Johannes Zupfer, who had already held the position of Managing Director of CooperVision D-A-CH on an interim basis since last August, has been officially and regularly confirmed in office since 1 April 2021.
Zupfer has been working for CooperVision since 2017 and until last held the position of Head of Sales D-A-CH in addition to his provisional management of the Executive Board. The 40-year-old state-certified optician and master optician not only has many years of experience in the optical market, but also several years of industry experience in contact lens sales. He worked for more than ten years in the Novartis Group at Alcon Pharma and CibaVision, where he held leading positions as National Sales Manager and Head Key Account Internet for the German market.
"The contact lens market has changed rapidly over the past year. The Corona crisis clearly acted as an accelerator here. As manufacturers, we are reacting to the changed expectations of customers and consumers, for example by adopting new approaches in addressing customers, but also in supply," says Johannes Zupfer about the challenges facing the industry. At the same time, there is still huge potential in the contact lens itself, which we want to tap, says Zupfer and adds: "The population is also getting older, but this does not prevent them from pursuing an active lifestyle. And in order to be able to pursue this, they also want to continue wearing contact lenses. We will meet this desire, for example, with an expanded product range of multifocal contact lenses." Accompanying and helping to shape this industry change at one of the market-leading providers is what makes working at CooperVision so exciting for him.
With its unsurpassed products, strong product portfolio and a well-filled product pipeline, CooperVision will continue to succeed in setting new standards in the future, Zupfer is certain. "Our great advantage is that we have further established ourselves as the partner of the stationary optical trade in recent years and offer our customers a wide range of tools with which we can provide them with excellent support in their work," adds the father of two. His wish is that "people who put on contact lenses for the first time associate a unique experience with them." Because only in this way will the contact lens become a real, serious and alternative vision correction to glasses.
